Our "Vision Project" is a plan, currently in progress, that will ultimately end up giving us new facilities.
A new building with indoor ranges, a conference room, an office, restrooms and a kitchen area has been completed.
Yet to be started is Phase II of the project
Phase II will give us new outdoor ranges and a new parking area.

A Celebration of Life for longtime President Walter J. Toepfer was held at the Lake Superior Sportsman’s Club’s new facility. Walt was the driving force to get the facility built, and he was meant to be the first person to send a shot down range. But it was not to be. In honor of his commitment, his son Glenn and daughter-in-law Joanna stood in for him to fulfill that moment, along with friends and members of the LSSC. 13 rounds went down range, one for each year that it took to get this “ Vision for the Future” of LSSC to be completed. Around sixty attended, with Glen, Joanna, Lori Burford, Micah Brown and Bill Carrothers speaking.
Walt’s passion for promoting and teaching the safe use of firearms to the future generations of shooters will be hard to match; LSSC will attempt to be up to the task. Because of his efforts, and our partnership with the MDNR, we all have a state of the art facility to spread his passion further than ever seemed possible..

The 14th Annual Trapper’s Workshop, held at the Lake Superior Sportsman’s Club on Saturday, September 27th, was a great success thanks to Don Harris’s passion and knowledge of the sport. This year, twenty-nine enthusiastic participants were treated to an instructional presentation which included the area history of trapping, equipment demonstrations, the ethics of trapping, along with tips and strategies for a successful trapping experience. Free "goodies" of traps, along with lure and trapping accessories, were distributed to class participants; the gift items were generously provided by Barnes Furs, Don Harris, Duke Pecan Traps, Dunlap Lures, Lenon’s Lures, LSSC, Tomahawk Live Traps and Trapper’s Post magazine. The fantastic “Team Niemi” provided the grilling expertise to make sure everyone was treated to a great lunch. Generous donations to the barbeque were made by Pat’s Foods, Walmart and Lake Superior Sportsman’s Club. A special recognition thank you to all the volunteers for their help and donations.
